Electrical Vehicle Home Charging
Nearly every electric vehicle is capable of being charged through a standard 120-volt outlet. While this is convenient, it is also slow, adding 3.5-6.5 miles of range for each hour charged.
A level 2 charging station, sometimes referred to as a rapid charger, is significantly faster – adding 14-35 miles of range for each hour charged. The drawback? It requires additional, dedicated equipment and professional installation.
There is a third type known as DC Fast Charging, but it is not typically used in residential applications, and not all vehicles are capable of using it.
